Aisha Candice Harper
When my eyes woke up,
I saw her
Living in what use to be my fantasy.
She looked lean and long an amish mosh of colors:
Deep tones, weightless images.
She stayed still - looking down into my desire,
A place filled with words I had never seen,
With pictures I had never dreamed of.
A place with colorless sunsets.
Words dark like my eye's shadows had been, but
Still shining in the light of the pages.
She studied longer, then looked up in my direction.
I don't know what I looked like, but she frowned
And turned back to her pages, to a world filled
With dungeons and dragons and random dogmas
A world filled wtih sweet dreams and flying fish.
I closed my eyes tight and looked at her again,
Saw her like I had seen her all the times before.
I watched her forehead come down as she studied.
I watched her mouth curl as she stared.
I watched her had move as she sank
Deep into the abyss of my blues.
I watched her listen to me sing, breathe and see.
I opened them, and there she was
Intense...
Educated...
Able...
Blind to my envy
