If my heart was laid out in front of me
So it showed everything that's been on my mind,
If it was out there for all to see
Would I be scared of what they'd find?

Cried myself to sleep last night
I seem to be doing that a lot,
Why can't people tell me
What's right and what is not?

He tells me that he loves me
But how do I believe?
Is he true and honest
Or is he out to deceive?

Today I couldn't help it
It would have caused me too much pain,
And trying to protect myself
I had to lie again.

I wish I could escape my life
I had an awful day.
Why is it so hard?
There must be another way!

If God was really there for me
If he's really kept me close,
Then why hasn't he helped me
When I've needed him the most?

What has this world come to
If all you really need,
Is sex, money and power
It all leads to greed...

When your heart is laid out in front of you
Are you proud of what you see?
Take your life and make it right
Be the best that you can be!
